About Art Eastes

Margaret Eastes is an up & coming contemporary artist that, up until recently, has basically been unknown to the general public. Subsequentially she has managed to hone her skills & already recognisable style – unencumbered by outside influences or opinions & has managed to accumulate quite a vast body of works that shout out proudly to be seen.

Margaret predominantly works in oils, but also has the seamless ability of being completely adaptable to any media she tackles. Her often unreferenced sketches are out of this world & most of them are a work of art on their own – even in their raw foundation phase. If her vast body of oil canvases are impressive – you’d be awe-struck by every single sketch book she has collected over the years. They bear testimony to her absolutely dedicated soul – she lives & breathes to express herself whether it’s in oil, acrylic, water colours, inks, charcoal, fabric (… but please don’t ask her to sew), wood, resin, aluminium or metalwork – all her work is uniquely individual.

After studying graphic art for a short while & struggling with conformist restrictions, she walked away to embark on a journey that led her from the corporate world, back to farming, to the top of a mountain, back down again to the shores of the coast… in a huge, red, double-decker bus named Mona Lisa & back home again – finally ready to share her work with the world.

Margaret Eastes… if you had to ask her to describe herself, she would say that she lives to create & paint canvases of a spiritual nature. She would say that she tries to portray human experiences & emotions. Margaret is woman of very few words when it comes to herself – but she is so much more than that.

Her canvases are mostly big, bold, sometimes dark, very sensitive & often quirky. Her artworks have been known to rivet the viewer & inspire many internal dialogues & opinions – & what is the intention of a true work of art but to make you think, question, be amazed (or revolted in some way) & walk away feeling like your world has been at least slightly influenced.

Whether you like her work or not – you will not walk away uninfluenced by her.

WARNING LABEL: No matter how much her work influences you… do not ever ‘just pop in for a cup of coffee’.

She will not see you, she will not hear you – all you’ll be able to do is look through a window & watch her in her own world, feeling like a child looking through Santa’s workshop windows on Christmas Eve & not being allowed to be a part of that world.
